Domaine de la Barquine 2004 ~ Fitou

Domaine de la Barquine in located in La Palme, Aude and is a part of the Paul Herpe group. This is a light bodied subtle wine with notes of blueberries and a foot note of black cherry. There is also a earthy finish to round it off. Good even deep dark colour. This wine is a blend of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah grapes. Good value for money at around 4.50€ a bottle.

Fitou: It should be noted that Fitou is split into two separate areas. This wine is from the coastal Fitou area, which produces subtle even red wines because of the cool breeze blowing in from the Mediterranean, whilst the other Fitou area is in the Corbieres hills and produces more full bodied wines due to the arid and hot conditions during summer.
